Looking for a Fun Assembly Program to Support Your School's Character Education Curriculum?
My 45-minute Magic Show Will Help Your Students Discover How to Make Wise Choices and Be a Good Friend
It’s no secret that social media and other outlets condone and, in some cases, celebrate cruelty or bad behavior. To counter these influences, school administrators, teachers, and parents throughout the tri-state area – New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut – are searching for ways to provide children with examples of the right way to live. I’m ‘The Great & Powerful Dave’, and that’s why I created…
'Search for the
Treasure of Good Character'
In this entertaining, educational school assembly program, I take your students on a hunt to find treasure. Not gold or jewels. No, the treasure is good character!

I use magic, puppets, age-appropriate humor, and loads of join-in fun to help your students understand the importance of making good choices. Each routine highlights one of the pillars of good character: persistence, respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, kindness, and good citizenship. By the end of the program, your students will discover the treasure that comes from making good character choices: the ability to be a good friend and to have good friends in return.
A Small Sample of What Your Students Will See & Experience:
-
A student volunteer who has demonstrated good citizenship has silver coins plucked from their ears and nose, showing how giving to the community brings rewards back to the giver.
-
Vern the Vulture, my trickster puppet friend, pulls a prank on the children & me, but ultimately learns how important it is to be responsible & trustworthy.
-
Three brother bookworms of different sizes (who live in your school library!) magically change sizes again & again and, in the process, learn to appreciate their differences, and the importance of being kind, caring, and respectful.
Why This Show Succeeds
Educators know that students learn and retain information best when it’s delivered in multiple ways, so the lessons in ‘Dave & the Search for the Treasure of Good Character’ are delivered three ways:

-
Your students see lessons illustrated by amazing magic
-
Students hear the lessons delivered verbally in fun ways
-
Volunteers get actively involved as they learn the concepts firsthand on stage
Now, there are plenty of school show presenters who tour the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tri-state area, and many offer character education assembly programs. What sets mine apart? Glad you asked!
Two Important Ways My Character Education Show is Different from the Rest
-
My show is customized to your school’s character education curriculum
Most assembly presenters are unwilling (or unable) to alter the script they use to align with the curriculum of the school where they’re performing. The result? You get a show that may not perfectly line up with your school’s lesson plans. Your students could wind up confused after hearing contradictory messages.
Not with my show! I contact you a couple weeks before the performance to find out the terminology and acronyms your schools uses in your character education program, and then I use exactly the same terminology and acronyms in my show. The result is a show that seems to be custom-made for your school!
2. My show is theatrical
I’m not one of those boring sleight-of-hand magicians. Some magicians make the mistake of trying to impress children with their technical skills. The kids don’t care. They just want to be entertained!
I’m not just a professional children’s magician, I’m also a professional actor with years of television, stage, and movie experience, including a decade touring to elementary schools with a professional children’s theatre troupe. (You can read more about my acting adventures HERE.) I know how to add drama, comedy, pacing, and variety to a show, resulting in a unique, one-of-a-kind theatrical experience for your school.
The magic I use is eye-popping but kid-friendly. I focus on getting your students to laugh & have a good time and, most importantly, I focus on illustrating the messages.
